The events that occurred on September 11, 2001 have brought about the rebirth of patriotism amongst the people of these great United States. We should never take what we have here for granted. I've had some time to reflect and I'd like to take this opportunity to write about some of our good fortune.
In 1965, with Long Island's Post War II homes aging, Peter Barba knew that septic tanks cesspools
would start showing signs of drainage failure. Having worked for the Plumbers Union, the Suffolk County Water Authority and local cesspool companies. Peter decided to venture into business for himself. With very little money, a tired panel truck and a small arsenal of hand tools Assured Plumbing
was born. It was not easy. Pete printed flyers, which were hand delivered to thousands of homes in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The deliveries were done by Pete himself or his family members. The phone secretary was his mother, Lorraine, and the office, of course, was the kitchen in their family home on Ford Drive West in Massapequa.
Pete's vision was clear. He wanted to give customers the best service possible. Of course he wanted to make money, especially with a new family starting, but he wanted the job performed correctly and the customer to call for repeat service. Over the years that vision became a reality.
